Dressing it Up or Down in the Show Ring

As many of you horse lovers know, showing can become very expensive once you add in your horse's show saddle, bridle, blanket, halter, and body sheets. Once you add in the costs for your clothes in the show ring you are looking at a pretty hefty bill. As I've shown through the years I'm seen some amazing show outfits that I'm sure cost a pretty penny and I've seen some show outfits that just make you wonder "What the hell are they wearing?". There are multiple sites and magazines that offer quality show clothes and I thought I'd share some of my favorites with ya'll.

Show Time Show Clothing
This is one of my favorite sites to browse around on. I have never actually purchased a show outfit from this site because of the excessively high prices, but some of these shirts are truly a work out art. If you would like a custom made shirt, you can send your patterns to this company that is based out of Purcell, Oklahoma and they will make you a one of a kind show shirt that is sure to wow some other. Average price on this site is $700.00

Hobby Horse Show Clothing is probably one of the most common sites for horse lovers to purchase their show clothes. Each year Hobby Horse changes their designs and offers new color patterns for their shirts. My favorite top that was sold this year is the Safari Pink Tunic Top that is not available for $109.00. Hobby Horse also offers slinkies, vests, and chaps for riders of all sizes. Average price on this site is $150.00.

Rod's is an online company that is known for having plainer western show clothes for all ages. Even though Rod's clothing is not the most decorative that does now mean it is cheap. These are high quality show shirt that can still hold their own against more decorative show shirts. These shirts are great for open shows or even for the contesting ring if you really want to go all out in barrels. The average price on this site is $100.00.

Please check out these sites listed above or check out the magazines Smith Brothers Tack, State Line Tack or Horse and Rider for some great show outfits. Local tack auctions will often offer tack swaps that can include gently used show clothing.
