Western Bling In The Ring: Part III

Hello horse lovers! It is time for the next piece of Western Bling In The Ring series. Get excited because Part III will be showcasing the breastcollars that match with the headstalls from Western Bling In The Ring: Part II. The breastcollar is a very decorative and fancy piece of the western show tack that really has no vital purpose in the show arena other than adding glitz and glamour. However, you would never be able to guess that this piece was unneeded from a look at the price tag. This is a perfect example of just how ridiculously expensive showing a horse really can be! The cash continues to flow in order to purchase the extraordinary bling that is desired for show day, even when the purchase is simply “just for looks”.

This is a breastcollar that, just like the matching headstall, has a common appearance and western style to it. The one inch wide leather has a row of silver balls, barrels, and natural rawhide knots. The center silver is engraved and is a sterling overlay. This piece is also priced at $199.99, same as its corresponding headstall.

This breastcollar is also one inch wide leather. A row of silver balls and straight ferrules accent the leather and the center silver is engraved with sterling overlay. This is a very petite but nice classy design. The price is certainly not petite by any means at $299.99.

This one inch wide breastcollar has scrolled silver on the chest and concho style buckles. The sterling silver overlay is gorgeous and is finished off with an engraved center silver piece. As I had mentioned in the previous article, I find the light oil leather to look much more elegant and attractive than the dark oil. This bad boy is priced at $449.99.

This breastcollar is definitely a “piece of work” with a lot of detail! It is made of one inch leather with double rows of silver balls. The center silver is engraved with raised beads and all of the silver is a sterling overlay. Honestly I do not find this attractive or full of bling at all. It looks to me as if it is covered in hardware instead of silver and would be tack worn by knights on their jousting steeds. Especially at the price $479.99, I would not even consider spending money for this.

One inch wide leather with ball barrel ferrules that are inset into it creates the design of this breatcollar. The concho buckle has a raised edging with a dome center and tiny silver and gold beads. Although the sterling overlay creates a lot of shine and sparkle that look rather gorgeous and glitzy, the price of $399.99 is answer enough for me.
