Western Bling In The Ring: Part II

Wait no longer ya’ll, Part II of Western Bling In The Ring is here! I really hope that you have enjoyed this incredible series of articles so far because there is still plenty more on its way. For now, we will be exploring the market for Western show bridles that are full of sparkle and glitz. These are certain to provide plenty of bling to your western style.

The tricky thing about purchasing a show bridle is that it actually comes in three separate pieces: headstall, reins, and bit. There are hundreds of different bits and finding the right one for your individual horse may take a little time. The reins come in many styles but it is relatively easy to match the color of the leather with your headstall. Therefore, the headstall is the important piece that we will be focusing on. So, these following examples are just a small example of the headstalls being sold for the western horse folks out there.

This is a headstall that has a common appearance and western style to it. A single row of medium size octagon ferrules with black design add decoration to the ears and cheeks. Silver engraved buckles and horsehair tassels finish of the style. I personally own a headstall similar to this one, but I am not particularly fond of the bead design shown here. Priced at $199.99, this is considered to be a cheap price… and you will soon find out it is!

This double earred headstall features sterling silver overlay quite similar to the previous example. The silver design here is a ball and straight ferruled design that I find quite classy. The ears and cheeks are accented by sleek and shiny bling that is very eye catching. The price is also sure to catch your eye at $269.99.

This wide tooled leather headstall also features the double ear. The gorgeous sterling silver overlay is finished off with silver engraved concho buckles. I find the light oil leather shown in the smaller picture to look more elegant and attractive than the dark oil. Priced at $359.99… maybe not as attractive as I had originally thought!

This headstall features a single row of medium sized ball ferrules on the ears and cheeks made of sterling silver overlay. The design is finished off with silver engraved buckles with raised beading. The entire appearance of this particular piece does not appease to my taste at all. I find the buckles to be rather ugly, especially after catching a glimpse at the price tag that reads $369.99.

Wide, tooled leather and double ear bands with an overlay of sterling silver create the image of this headstall. The silver was specially designed with raised edges and a domed center with tiny silver and gold beads. The cheek pieces are ball barrel ferrules that glitter and shine. Priced at $399.99 this headstall falls short of my praise. I find the fancy sterling silver buckles very gorgeous, but I do not particularly care for the rest of the design.
